Happy New Year! I hope your holidays were filled with joy, peace, and the blessing of friends and family. I have always loved the idea of starting a new year fresh and filled with hope. In my kitchen I have a plaque that I see everyday which says, “Oh, God of second chances and new beginnings, HERE I AM AGAIN!”!
As a result, several years ago I began a new tradition. At the beginning of each year I select a word or theme for my year, a gift I learned from my dear friend, Naomi Rhode. In the past I have chosen things like RENEWAL, GRATITUDE, RELATIONSHIPS, and one of my very favorites, “SURPRISE ME AGAIN, LORD!” This year I have chosen the word “SIMPLIFY.” We so often get burdened down by piles, papers, overfull closets, to-do lists, and not enough time for the really important things in our lives. This year I want to consciously simplify my life, my work, and my home. I will report to you on my progress!
What will your word for 2019 be?
“Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right.” ~ Oprah Winfrey.

Last week I came home to two voice mails that were a little disconcerting. There was a slow, gravelly voice that said, “My name is Wayne Williams. Call me back.” And he left his number. Since I did not know any Wayne Williams and because the…

“Absolutely loved Barbara Glanz!! She did a fantastic job with her presentation and some of the things she said and pointed out have really resonated with me. I’ve already put some of her suggestions into practice. For example, I’ve already complimented several people for the work that they do to try and make them feel appreciated 🙂 I really liked her positive, fun spirit and her outlook on life. Even though she has been through many trials. she doesn’t focus on her circumstances. I would highly recommend her to speak at any event. Awesome choice to choose her as a speaker! I look forward to reading her material on the internet and/or books.” ~ 2018 NEOGOV Conference

What a wonderful year 2018 was with friends, new clients, and travel! One of the highlights was speaking for my 21st year at the national Society for Human Resource Management Convention in Chicago. I had nearly 3000 people in my 7:00 am session on KINDNESS and another 1500 at a later session on “The Simple Truths of Appreciation.” Another highlight was doing three separate sessions for all the leaders and then all the employees at Copper Mountain Ski Resort. Finally, I was thrilled to spend Thanksgiving with my children in Seattle and Christmas with all the family in Portland, OR.
Please let us know any ways we can be of help to you as you plan your association, company, or manager’s meetings. We would love to help you discover new ideas you can apply immediately in the areas of Employee Engagement, Customer Service, Appreciation & Recognition, Creating a Culture of Kindness, and Understanding the Human Level of Change. A special thanks to all of you with whom I have worked this year!
“Be kind and merciful. Let no one ever come to you without coming away better and happier.” ~ Mother Teresa
